VHP says Ayodhya land can’t be partitioned like other property and this is the reason they say

Days before the Supreme Court begins hearing the Ram Mandir matter, the VHP on Saturday said the land belonged to Hindus and any other decision would not be acceptable. A senior functionary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Champat Rai, added that the movement for the Ram Mandir would be taken to the streets so that the people could decide on the issue.

Rai, who was speaking at an event in Delhi on the genesis of the Ram Mandir issue, was categorical that it was not a “property dispute”. “The high court had in 2010 accepted that a temple existed before the mosque…there is no question of the land being divided between Hindus and Muslims like a property. The land will not be partitioned,” said Rai.

Calling for an early decision from the apex court, Rai said that once the judgment comes in, the government could frame a law to build the temple. “Parliament cannot come out with a law as the matter is sub-judice at present. But once the courts decide, the government can take action,” said the VHP’s international secretary general.

The VHP veteran added that 60 percent of the material to rebuild the temple had already been brought to Ayodhya. “From 1990 to 2006, we have been working on ensuring that the temple is built. 500 trucks with construction material have brought all the material to Ayodhya so that when the time comes, we can start building the temple.

60 percent material is available, all of which was brought with permission of the UP government. Not a single government denied us permission to transport that material,” said Rai, adding, “We stopped that work as we wanted to tackle the court. Once the judgment comes through, we can work on the temple.”
