A man (27) committed suicide in order to apparently save his soulmate from death. Neelotpol Sarkar, a nanotechnology researcher, jumped into the Upper Lake Bhopal. Simply because he had a premonition that by killing himself, he would protect his ‘gay’ partner from death.
The researcher’s body was recovered from the lake on Sunday morning.
Sarkar was a believer of Goddess Kali, dreams and rebirth. Police even recovered a note from his bedroom in which he wrote to the scientist community: “To understand dark matter, understand ‘Shiva’. If you want to understand black hole understand Kali, and if you want to understand Big Bang understand the language of Om.”
After investigation, police also revealed that Sarkar wanted his body to be found & recognised easily. So he had tied a tag on his wrist with his name, local address and mobile number written on it. “It appears he wanted his family members to get the body as soon as possible”, a police officer said.
In fact, just before leaving his home to kill himself, Sarkar had shared a video titled ‘Final Note’ on Facebook at around 10.04 pm. The video, five minutes long, featured the notes which he had posted on the walls of his room.
In the video, Sarkar is heard saying: “On Diwali 2016, i.e. on 30th October 2016, I had a very beautiful dream! Goddess Kali appeared. What she said was eternal bliss. I had to keep that a secret till today because the day I speak up to the whole world it will be my final day! Watch it till the end to know why is that so? What is the dream about? Why final note? You will get all yours answers! Please pray for us, thank you!”
Sarkar can be heard saying that during his dream, Goddess Kali told him that he would meet his soulmate within a year.
“When he will enter my life, I will be at eternal bliss. He wouldn’t have sex with me but we would do everything possible to keep each other at peace. But there will be a massive situation. The day I will propose him, I will die and the day he will realise I’m the one, he will die. To nullify this I requested Goddess Kali to please never let that happen whosoever he is. I don’t want him to be hurt. I’ll take everything on my head. I can never let that happen to him. Is there any solution to it? I want to marry him. Kali Maa said that you both will meet in this life but in your next life you will definitely marry him. And I thank goddess for that.”
Sarkar’s family did not know about his sexual orientation. Sarkar belonged to a rich family; his father, an assistant general manager in Bharat Heavy Electric Limited (BHEL), Haridwar, while mother is a doctor. His sister is pursuing graduation from a private university.
Sarkar himself was a research scholar with the CSIR-AMPRI Bhopal and resided in a rented accommodation in Saket Nagar.
Sarkar’s friends described him as an introvert and a religious person.
