The NDA government has dismissed the allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi made by Congress leaders regarding Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud. Sources from the PMO reported that the allegations made by Congress and CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury were mischievous.
Earlier the leaders of the Congress and Mr. Yechury had accused that the accused jeweler Nirav Modi had accompanied Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Davos. According to PMO officials, the business leaders who attended the meeting had to register themselves for the meet.
In a recent development, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched an attack against the Congress. The Minister accused that the fraud actually took place during the tenure of the UPA government. She also said that the present government cannot be blamed just because of the fact that the fraud was exposed now. According to her the1.77 billion dollars scam happened before 2014.

Earlier, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala had said that reports regarding Nirav Modi and his relative were handed over to the Prime Minister in 2016. The report contained 42 FIRs. He slammed the Prime Minister saying that the PM did not take any actions based on those reports.
CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury had also joined the attack by tweeting a group of photos taken during the Davos meet showing Nirav Modi along with the Prime Minister. Mr. Yechury said that the NDA government is responsible for Nirav Modi’s escape from the country.
The game of political blame broke out on Thursday after the Punjab National Bank detected a 1.77 billion dollars fraud in which jeweler Nirav Modi had obtained fraudulent letters of undertaking from one of its branches for overseas credit from other lenders.
