Rahul Gandhi attended Nirav Modi’s promotion in UPA period: Nirmala Sitharaman mount blame on Congress

Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shifts the blame on UPA government. She alleged that Rahul Gandhi also participated in Githanjali jewels promotion in 2013. She also alleged that Rahul has relation with Nirav Modi.

“Gitanjali Gems was suspended for six months from doing business on the NSE in 2013. But then LIC took a stake in that. Then in 2013, Rahul Gandhi attended a promotional event organized by Gitanjali. Soon after an additional loan was sought. But one government-appointed officer, as media raised it, objected to it. When he kept on objecting, he was asked to resign,” she said.
Sitharaman continued, “Firestar Diamond International Pvt Ltd. is one of the companies of Nirav Modi. They acquired it from Advait Holdings and one of its shareholders is Anita Singhvi, since 2002.”
Anita Singhvi is the wife of Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi. Defence Minister Sitharaman had earlier called the scam a “gift from the previous government”.
At the same time, the Central government created investigation team under the leadership of Union Finance Secretary to inquire into the Rs 11,400 crore scam.
