Massive Victory for BJP in the Gujarat civic polls

In the concluded Gujarat Civic Polls, BJP is leading. Elections were conducted for Gujarat Municipal Corporations also known as Nagar Palika.The election was fought fiercely between Congress and BJP as in the state assembly election there was a close fight between Congress and BJP. BJPthough won the election couldn’t manage to hit 100 setas mark. So this election was viewed as an important on regarding whether BJP has been able to make any inroads into the Congress bastions and whether Congress was able to sustain the momentum they gained in the state election.

The results for the civic polls will be announced for 75 municipalities, two district panchayats and 17 taluka panchayats that voted on February 17. Of the 75 municipalities, the BJP is in power in 59 and Of the 17 taluka panchayats, BJP is in power in 13.

As per the latest information, Bjp was able to win 44 seats while Congress was able to win 27 seats. The state saw a 64.4% voter turnout for the municipal elections.
