With the Punjab National Bank scam coming to light, the political parties pointing fingers at each other.
With the help of an adage, a BJP lawmaker on Monday hits out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, asserting that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “serving the country, whoever wants to bark can bark,”.
“Like the saying goes: Dogs keep barking while the elephant moves without a care in the world. The Prime Minister is involved in serving the country, whoever wants to bark can bark,” said BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan.

Responding to Gandhi’s continued attacks on the government over the PNB scam, Sharan said: “Rahul Gandhi has no right to speak about this (PNB scam) because it started during his party’s government. The government is tightening the noose. Right now this scam was caught, next his brother-in-law’s will be. Perhaps his mother and he himself will be looked at. Then he’ll scream.”
The lawmaker made the comments in the context of the Rs 11,300 crore-fraud in PNB, for which Nirav Modi, his wife, brother, and business partner Mehul Choksi were booked by the CBI on January 31.
The fraud has become the source of a furious back-and-forth between the BJP and the Congress, with both parties alleging that the other had prior knowledge of the scam and yet failed to take action.
