An Indian Sikh became subject to racial attack outside the British Parliament on Wednesday. The victim is identified as Ravneet Singh whose turban was ripped by a white man while the former was waiting to enter the Portcullis House near the Parliament.
According to Ravneet, he was about to meet Sikh Labour MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi when the white man ran up to him and attacked him by pulling his turban strongly. He also said that the man addressed him as a ‘Muslim’ and urged him to ‘go back’. Mr Ravneet on trying to retaliate shouted at the white man thereby inviting the attention of the nearby people which made the white man run. The man also allegedly made a racial remark against Ravneet. According to Ravneet, the man who attacked was not an Englishman as he shouted in a language that he did not recognise.

Labor MP Dhesi expressed his disappointment and disgust at the unfortunate happening. Mr Dhesi who demanded strong action against the culprit by referring to him as a person filled with hatred. According to him, Ravneet was his guest who wears the turban as a religious headgear like most Sikh men.
As of now, the police have started the investigations and said that they will soon arrest the accused. The incident has stirred widespread outrage among the Indians present in the country.
