Vadgam MLA and Dalit activist from Gujarat, Jignesh Mewani has alleged that there is a threat to his life from Gujarat Police. He claims that the Gujarat police is trying to kill him in the encounter.
He made the allegation on Twitter after a discussion on a WhatsApp group called ‘ADR Police & Media’ went viral on Friday.
He posted on Twitter,
Following this claim, he is also going to file a complaint with Gujarat DGP, the state’s Home Minister, and the Home Secretary.

The ‘ADR Police & Media’ has a number of members of Gujarat police and media. It recently shared two videos. In one it showed Police beating a man dressed as a politician and in the other Yogi Adityanath seen defending the encounters carried out in UP by his government.
The two videos follow a message by RB Devdha, the Deputy Superintendent of Ahmedabad (rural), which reads: “Those who want to be the ‘baap’ of police and call the police as ‘lakhota’ (marbles) and those who take videos of police should remember that with people like you, the police will be like this. Scores will be settled. ‘ Gujarat Police.”
But when it becomes controversial he later clarified that he was just copy-pasting a forwarded message.
Recently Mevani was detained by Thye Gujarat Police while going to attend a programme to protest the death of Dalit activist Bhanu Vankar.
