Compare 48-year rule of Congress with BJP’s 48-month governance : PM Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the public to draw a comparison between Congress’ 48-year rule with 48 months of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central government.
Addressing a public rally, the Prime Minister asked the people to judge how much have they gained from both the governments.
“I have come to Puducherry after a long span of time. I feel lucky to be here. This one family (Congress) has governed the nation for almost 48 years ‘directly and indirectly’. Our government is going to complete 48 months this May. You will have to think what did you gain or lose during those 48 years of one family rule as compared to 48 months of our government’s rule,” Prime Minister Modi stated.
He claimed that after the Assembly elections in Karnataka, the Congress will remain in power only in one region in South India – Puducherry. “I want to congratulate the chief minister of Puducherry because the Congress is going to exhibit him as a specimen after June,” Prime Minister Modi added.
He also exhorted people to think why India was lagging behind several nations.
“We attained independence in 1947. Several countries, which gained freedom after us are way ahead of us as far as development is concerned. We need to ask ourselves what lacked in our political culture and system that we are still lagging behind several nations,” the Prime Minister added.
He criticised Congress of doing injustice to the people of Puducherry.
“Puducherry has all resources and willpower but why is its development not up to the mark? Why is it not number one? Are women and youth getting opportunities to move ahead? Are the industries prospering here? Political parties which governed Puducherry did injustice to the public over here,” Prime Minister Modi asserted.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister addressed the gathering at Auroville Foundation on the Occasion of its Golden Jubilee Week.
He recalled Maharishi Aurobindo for his dedication towards the nation and humanity.
