In a shocking incident in Madurai, a girl of 14 years died after suffering 70 per cent burns on her body. It is reported that she was set ablaze by a 23-year old man for rejecting his marriage proposal.

For the past one week, the girl had been battling for her life at the Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. She was studying in ninth standard and was exposed to fire while she was returning from school on February 16th.
Police officials revealed that the name of accused is Balamurugan and he has been stalking her for quite some asking her to marry him. However, the girl rejected his proposal following which the angry Balamurugan interrupted her and set her on fire. Balamurugan is still on the run. The police have registered a case against him.
