Fr Xavier Thelakkat, a senior Catholic priest and rector of a famous Christian pilgrim centre in Malayattoor was found dead earlier on Thursday. Fr Xavier It was found that Fr Xavier was stabbed by his former sacristan Johnny.

The shocking incident took place today afternoon when the 52-year-old priest was climbing the Kurisumudy in Malayattoor. According to sources, Johnny attacked the priest with a sharp-edged weapon and soon fled the scene. It must be noted that Fr Xavier had removed Johnny from the post of sacristan three months ago. Even though the priest was soon rushed to the hospital, he died on the way.
Police believe that Johnny has entered a forest near Malayaattoor and they hope to catch him soon. According to sources, the priest was overseeing the preparations for the famous Kurisumudy pilgrimage during the holy week later this month.
