7nth pay commission to bring huge benefits to government employees

As a move that can be viewed as a Holi Bonanza, the Odisha government has announced that it will implement the 7nth pay commission recommendation for PSU employees which will be beneficial to eight lakh government employees and pensioners.

Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik has asked the concerned department to look into the matter and enable the recommendations of the 7th Pay commission.

The implementation of 7th pay commission benefits in the state will come into effect from January 1, 2016.

Earlier the government had announced on August 29, 2017, the revised salaries as per the recommendation of the commission but no decision was taken on PSU employees.

The central government employees unions have been demanding for hiking the minimum pay of Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. They have also demanded that fitment factor is raised from 2.57 times to 3.68 times.

The new pay scale will thus give an entry-level employee 18,000 in place of 7,000 which was given earlier. At the highest level that is Secretary, it would go up from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh. For Class 1 officers, the starting salary will be Rs 56,100.

The recommendations are expected to benefit over 1 crore Central government employees which include 47 lakh pensioners too. It also includes 14 lakh employees and 18 lakh pensioners are from the defence forces.

Earlier the Narendra Modi led Central government had vowed to resolve all problems related to the recommendations of seventh pay commission.
