“I said I was joining politics because there are things I need to do for the people,” Rajinikanth said.

The actor lavished praised on MGR, saying it was “an honor to meet people who associate themselves” to the former AIADMK chief.
He promised to fill the vacuum that was created by the former CM Jayalalitha
“Tamil Nadu is in need of a big leader and I’m there,” he said.
Only weeks have passed since Rajinikanth dramatically informed his fans of his decision to become a politician, but controversy has already found its way to him.
Banners portraying the actor were displayed in Chennai today ahead of his speech, despite the fact that the High Court had slammed authorities over illegal hoardings.
Even Kamal Haasan alluded to them in a snide remark. Change must begin from within, he said.
Rajini wasted no time in appealing to his fans to refrain from putting up banners. “Today, if they are erected, if there is a problem because of it for the people, please forgive us,” he said.
