Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday defended pulling down of the statue of the communist icon. The Rajya Sabha MP further said that the late Russian leader was “a terrorist” and questioned if the statue of such a person should at all be installed in India.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Swamy also suggested that the communist leaders should consider install ing Lenin’s statue inside their party headquarters and “worship” him if they want. “Lenin was a foreigner. He was, in a way, a terrorist because (he is responsible for) the number of people he killed there (in Russia) after imposing a dictatorship. And (you) want the statue of such a person erected in our country?,”
