Teacher arrested for showing indecent images at school

In Patna, a teacher at a government primary school under Shahpur police station was arrested on Saturday from the school premises for allegedly showing pornographic images to girl students.

Parents who had gathered at the school too had trashed him before the arrest.

The teacher, aged 46 was identified as Mohammad Kalim said SHO Vikash Chandra Yadav of Shahpur police station.

SHO Yadav said that a girl student studying in class-V at the school had submitted a written complaint with the Shahpur police station on basis of which an FIR was lodged against Kalim under relevant sections of POCSO Act, SC/ST Act and Section 354A of IPC.

“The student is around 13-year-old. She, in her complaint, had alleged that Kalim used to gather six to seven girls of Class-V inside the classroom during lunch and show the pornographic images to them,” the SHO said.

Quoting the complaint, the SHO further said that the Kalim was doing the act for almost a fortnight with the girl students. He said that there are at least three other teachers in the school.

“At the lunchtime, while the boys used to go outside the classroom, it was then Kalim used to show pictures to the girls,” the SHO said.

He said that the matter came to light after the parents gathered at the school on Saturday morning on the complaint of the girls and thrashed the teacher. “The situation was brought under control and Kalim was arrested from the school premises,” the SHO said. 

He said that during the preliminary investigation, it surfaced that the girls had earlier also complained to parents but perhaps they ignored.

“Some other male student also told police that Kalim used to show images to girls,” the SHO said.

He said that after the arrest, Kalim told police that he used to show his wife’s images to the students.

“Kalim’s cellphone has been seized and would be sent to forensic science laboratory (FSL) in Patna for analysis,” he added.
