Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived in China on Monday to participate a preparatory meeting regarding upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Sitharaman is likely to meet a number of Chinese leaders, during the time of visit. She will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation defense ministers’ meeting on Tuesday.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is already at Beijing on a four-day visit here to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Foreign Ministers meeting to finalize the agenda for the summit of the eight-member political, economic and security bloc.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, headquartered in Beijing, was established in 2001. Comprising China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, and Pakistan, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation focused at military cooperation between the member states and involves intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism operations in Central Asia and united work against cyber terrorism.
