The debate about nepotism in Bollywood is never-ending. In the latest development, October star Varun Dhawan, who was criticised during his debut for having it easy because of being a starlet, has slammed the media for giving undue attention to star kids even before they decide to pursue a career in films.
Birthday Boy of Bollywood said that the media is to be blamed equally for it. “It’s 100% unfair, I agree. But it’s not only the industry’s fault. It is the media’s fault as well. In our country, at the moment, even Taimur Ali Khan is more famous than actors”, the actor said in an interview.
Varun Dhawan take implies that when producers are looking to cast actors in their films, they go for bankable names and who better than starlets as they already are celebrities even before their first take. Their popularity will draw fans to the theatres which a newcomer wouldn’t be able to deliver. End of the day, it is a business and everyone is in it, to make money.
Varun is currently busy shooting for Sui Dhaga and Kalank.
