Four things to be excited about tonights CSK – MI clash

Mumbai Indians, arguably the franchise with the biggest fan base in the IPL is in a tight spot at the moment. The defending champions, if they lose tonight, will not have any realistic chance to make it into the playoffs.

They have just 1 wins in 6 matches and they need to win almost every other match to stay relevant in the competition. But CSK will not make things easy for them. Here are five things to look forward to the clash of the heavyweights.

Will Rohit open?

In a match of 20 overs, your best player has to play a maximum number of overs. Conserving resources ain’t gonna work in T20. Rohit Sarma is MI’s premium white ball player and although Ishan Kishan and Yadav have done well at the top, Sharma needs to go back to the top and set the pace for the match. When Evin Lewis and Rohit set the game, MI has a better chance to win.

MSD is in beast mode

If anyone had ever doubted MS Dhoni’s potential and power to clear the fence, they have been handed a brutal reminder in the last match. Dhoni’s pyrotechnics lit up the Chinnaswamy stadium and with his initiative to bat up the order to disprove his critics, we could be in for another treat.

Harbhajan against his former franchise

Harbhajan and MI had a long-standing relationship and many felt surprised when he made his way into CSK this season. Going up against his former teammates, Harbhajan will know the strength and weakness of his Mumbai friends and we can expect some tactical moves from him.

Ben Cutting for Pollard

Pollard has been the impact player for MI in many seasons but hasn’t fired yet in the current edition. With so many failures under his belt, MI might be feeling the heat to give Ben Cutting a go. Cutting can give four overs too. On the other hand, if MI persists with Pollard, he will be motivated to put everything into it and we might see his big hitting tonight.
