Many parents themselves have no control over the time they spend online is all the more reason why parents want to make sure the time spend by kids on Facebook is well controlled. Enter Facebook messenger, the new messaging app solution for kids, especially between age 6 and 12. The app is operated via parents account and the kid needn’t have a separate Facebook account. The need of this app is understood as US federal laws doesn’t permit children below age 13 to have a Facebook account. The current news of interest is that the app is getting a ‘sleep mode’. So that now the parents can actually control when the kid can use this app.

Messenger for kids is full of fun features for kids. It basically allows them to be with friends and family through text or multimedia messages, decorate the pictures with several frames, stickers and masks all that can be verified by the parent. With the current sleep mode, the parents can set a pre determined time as to when the app should go to sleep and the kids can see a countdown of the remaining time before the app is closed.
Not everyone is happy with messenger for kids and recently Campaign for Free childhood sent a letter to Facebook expressing their concern. It seems Facebook is trying to add nifty features to the app to alleviate such opinion and makes sure the parents are in control of the app always.
