China’s mostly gets its disposal done via fermentation, a costly and not so environment friendly solution. It’s annual generation of 60 million tonnes of kitchen waste is a headache for the authorities of the asian giant. Mr Li said that the cockroach system let’s him dispose wastes in a non-polluting way. The farm owner already owns 300 tonnes of cockroaches and is gearing up for an expansion to take the tally to a staggering 4000 tonnes ! If done, this will help them process about 200 tonnes of food waste from Zhangqiu and neighbouring cities on a daily basis. He said that the cockroaches aren’t afraid of anything and can take in any thing of any taste.
