Anyone who resides in Thiruvananthapuram, capital of Kerala state would without a doubt acknowledge how beautiful and thrilling is a journey to Ponmudi. The slopes shrouded in mist fill one with a feeling of wonder and amazement. A large amount of rare flora and fauna can be seen here including mountain flowers, wild orchids, and exotic butterflies.

It is at an altitude of 1100m above sea level. It is part of the Western Ghats hill ranges. The very narrow roads with some 22 hairpin curves make the journey to the place quite adventuresome.
But the views which one can witness during their journey to the top will make it a worthwhile one for sure.
The place is about three and half hour journey from the city. In the recent years, number of Cottages have come up in the area to accommodate the increasing number of tourists. Those who love trekking and camping that option is also available.
The region is also occupied by spice and tea plantations and is dotted with waterfalls and viewpoints. This hill destination is ideal for long walks.
