James Cameroon’s Jurassic park is one of the all time favourite of movie lovers. Although it was scary and an edge of the seat rider for most part, it captured everyone’s imagination in to thinking and hoping for a Jurassic park in real world. South Delhi’s Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary is going to get India’s Jurassic park, where you can enjoy the natural wonders of the 3.2 billion year old Aravalli hill range. But no, you are not going to be meeting a dinosaur here as this is about plants from the Jurassic era that will be on show here.

The facility is being developed in 4 acres by a Bombay Natural History Society(BNHS) team and the Delhi Forest Department. The park will show the evidences of earliest human presence in Aravallis. The aravalli range is 692 kilometres long, and extends through the central indian states of Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. It is actually older than the Himalayas.
The park takes it’s inspiration from the book of Pranay Lal’s “Indica : A natural History of the Indian Subcontinent”. The book had an entire chapter on Aravallis. Sohail Madan who is a centre manager at the Conservation Education Centre(CEC) said that most Delhiites do not know that they are sitting on the world’s oldest mountain range. He expressed hope that children will enjoy the park.
A huge number of trees and plants like Dhau, Bel, Khair, Lasoda and varieties of cactus etc will go on the show. The park will be inaugurated on june 5th.
