This Porter from Kochi passed KPSC Exam using free Wi-Fi at Railway Station

Anudeep Durishetty, the current first rank holder of Civil Service Examinations had recently stated that his secret of success was sourcing materials from Internet. But then, not everyone has access to Internet still and that is were Public WiFi comes in as a boon. Sreenath K, a porter from Kerala showed exactly how the public service can be used to great effect as he made best use of the free WiFi at Railway Station, to come out in flying colours on a Kerala Public Service Commission Examination.

Sreenath has been carrying heavy loads at Ernakulam Railway Station for the past five years. The high-school pass out, if he manages to get through the interview process could soon be Village Assistant under the Land Revenue Department.

“I have appeared thrice for the examinations and this is the first time I used the WiFi at the station. I put on my earphones and listen to the study material as I carry the luggage or solve questionnaires in my mind. This way I can study while I work. I revise all my work at night when I get free time,” said the hardworking youngster. He said he will keep working as a porter as he has to keep his household expenses running and expressed hope that if he keep putting up good performances in exam, he is bound to get a job soon.

As a part of Narendra Modi’s Digital India Initiative, Public WiFi found its way in to Railway stations from 2016. Aspirants complain about PSC exams as something that take years to clear and Sreenath’s story will be an inspiration to many.
