Have you taken a book from library ? Can you check when it’s due before it’s too late? Because here is an extreme case of a book- a copy of Eldridge Cleavers memoir “Soul on Ice” which was late to reach back in to library by 47 years 4 months and 29 days. Had the library charged the late fee for the entire period, the number would have been $ 1731.70, but the authorities were lenient to keep the fine at just $10.01, may be as a good gesture in return for showing the courage to return the book.

The book when it was returned has it’s paperback cover detached and there was reportedly a hole in the title page. Branch manager Anne Vannuchi is interested in knowing who the library patron was so she can know the story behind the book.
Well if you think this was an extreme case of delay, it wasn’t too long ago that another incident was reported where a man returned the book his grandmother had taken. But by the time it was 100 years late. !
