After the Loss, Congress protects Rahul Gandhi from blame

Rahul Gandhi has often looked like a reluctant leader showing glimpses of occasional brilliance. It is a common sight that after every loss he suffers, other leaders rally around him to keep him insulated from the blame. With a crushing defeat in Karnataka, the small and big leaders have found it only more necessary to put an even stronger fence around their leader. Also they have found a convenient scapegoat in Siddaramaiah to take all the blame.

Party’s central leader Veerapa Moily prefered to blame it all on caste “caste let us down. The caste chemistry did not percolate”. Moily anticipated the ‘Rahul Gandhi’ question and said “”It was not Rahul ji’s leadership” even before the question was raised. The interesting question is whether they should have played the ‘Lingayat-caste’ card which misfired.

Dr D.K Shivakumar went a little more eloquent on explaining Rahul Gandhi’s efforts. “Rahul Gandhi did his best, but it is we who have lost the elections. We, the local leadership, should have encashed it in a proper way, because of which we lost it. He went to the streets, he went to the people. We are very proud of the Congress party president. It is we who lost the game.” said a disappoined Shivakumar. He also aid that Siddaramaiah was overconfident.

Congress have opened its doors for JDS and is looking to make a government. In coming hours we can expect more blankets of protection for Rahul Gandhi and some shrewd moves from all parties.
