The petrol price which had been remaining unchanged till Karnataka elections were over, showed 55 paise increase within three days. The elections were conducted from April 23 to May 12 and the prices soared again immediately after that.

Today, with 18 paise/litre increase in petrol price has surpassed Rs.79.Its first time in the history of Kerala. Both the state and the central government had shown their adamant stand towards this issue which affects the common people. The State government had earlier cleared that they won’t cut off the state tax and passed the ball to centre. The centre returned it saying that it’s up to the state to reduce their taxes and the centre would not reduce the tax rates. Anyway, the common people are at the receiving end of this issue.
Today, the petrol price in Trivandrum is Rs.79.16 and the diesel price is 72.27 rupees.
