Earlier, leader H D Kumaraswamy, who is all set to take over as Karnataka Chief Minister, today dismissed reports about his party working out a power sharing formula of heading the government for 30 months each, with its coalition partner the Congress.
HD Kumaraswamy is likely to begin his term with a small cabinet initially. The small group of MLAs will be sworn-in as ministers along with Kumaraswamy on Wednesday.
Swearing-in to be held at around 2.00 pm on Wednesday, May 23. There is a proposal to have two deputy chief ministers, to meet the balance between the two parties. Congress’ G Parameshwara is frontrunner for deputy CM’s post. Kumaraswamy may begin term with small cabinet initially, reports suggest. Kumaraswamy visited temples in Holenarasipura in Haasan district today.
Kumaraswamy expected to meet Congress president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi at 3.30 pm in Delhi. Floor test is expected to happen within 24 hours of Kumaraswamy being sworn-in. Congress and the JD(S) MLAs will remain confined to their hotels till floor test.
