Ramadan Special Masala Bonda

Masala bonda/Aloo bonda/Potato bonda is a common snack item in allover India. It is more suitable for your Iftar Snack.

Ingredients

For filling

  • Boiled potato :3
  • Chopped onion : 1 cup
  • Chopped green chilli : 2 tsp
  • Chopped ginger : 1 tsp
  • Chopped garlic : 1 tsp
  • Turmeric power : ¼ tsp
  • Chilli powder : 1 tsp
  • Salt
  • Curry leaves : 1 tbsp
    (It’s a basic filling you can improve it by adding carrot, cabbage, green pea)
    For coating
  • Besan flour/ gram flour : 1 cup
  • Chilli powder : ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida : ¼ tsp
  • Salt
  • Oil for fry

Preparation

Heat a pan with 1 tbsp of oil and add chopped ginger garlic, saute well. Then add onion and green chilli saute for 5 min. Add boiled mashed potatoes and finally add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and curry leaves. Mix well and keep for few more minute in low flame.

In a bowl make a thick batter with besan flour, chilli powder, asafoetida, salt and enough water. Once masala mixture cooled make balls out of it. Dip balls in batter and deep fry in hot oil. When it turns golden brown, drain excess oil and serve hot.
