Ingredients
- 500gm tender mutton, on the rib
- Salt, as required
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup refined vegetable oil
- ¾ cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 dsp garlic paste
- 1 dsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp pepper powder
- 2 dsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 2 cloves
- 1 inch piece of cinnamon
- 1 cardamom pod
Preparation
- Put the washed and cleaned mutton pieces into the pan
- Add enough salt
- Add ½ cup water, and cook with the lid on
- In another pan, heat oil
- Add sliced onion and saute well
- Once they turn a deep brown, add the garlic paste
- Follow it up with ginger paste and fry to a golden colour
- Mix chilli powder, pepper powder and turmeric powder with a little water and add to the pan
- Add the boiled mutton pieces to the sauteed onion mixture and blend well
- Pour the lemon juice mixed with some water
- Cook on low flame for ten minutes with the lid on
- Grind cinnamon, cumin seeds, cloves and cardamom pod to a powder
- Sprinkle on the cooked mutton chops
- Delicious chops are ready to be savoured
