Army Chief Bipin Rawat earlier today said that Major Leetul Gogoi would get exemplary punishment if he was found guilty.ANI quoted Army Chief as saying that if anyone in the Indian army, at any rank, did any wrong and it came to their(Army’s) notice then strictest action would be taken. He also told that if Major Gogoi had done something wrong then he could say that he would be given due punishment and that it would be such that it would set an example.

Major Gogoi is the accused officer in the incident where a civilian was tied to a jeep and drove through several villages of Budgam in Kashmir. The officer seems that has been also involved in a fracas at a Srinagar hotel where he has arrived with a man and woman.
Bipin Rawat’s reaction came after two days when J&K Police questioned Gogoi and other two relating to the hotel issue.
