Thandai (Sardai)
INGREDIENTS
For Sardai mixture
- 1 tbsp Poppy seeds/ cuscus (soaked)
- 1 cup Almonds (soaked)
- 5 tbsp Sugar
- ½ tsp whole black pepper
- 1 tsp Green Cardamom
- 4 tbsp dried melon seeds
- ½ cup water
For Sardai
- Sardai Mixture (Already Prepared)
- 1 cup Ice cubes
- 2 cup water
- Crushed Almonds (as needed for topping)
METHOD
For Sardai Mixture
- First of all, add poppy seeds, soaked almonds, in a clay pot & grind them well (you can use mortar & pestle for this purpose)
- Then add sugar, whole black peppers, green cardamoms, dried melon seeds, & grind again
- Add ½ cup water & mix well by adding water again. Sardai mixture is ready
For Sardai
- Put the sardai mixture (which is already prepared), ice cubes, 2 cup water in a grinder then grind well
- Take a muslin cloth & keep it in a bowl, then pour the grinded mixture (which we have prepared in previous step).
- Pick up this cloth from the top and squeeze it until all the liquid mixture came out
- Add this squeezed mixture into glass then complete topping with the help of crushed almonds
- Your traditional sardai is ready to serve
