The famed RR Nagar in Karnataka is to go to polling today. This constituency’s polling was to take place on the same date as the rest of Karnataka but did not.
On May 8, days before the rest of the State went to the polls, at least 9,564 EPICs (Electors Photo Identity Cards) were seized from an apartment at Jalahalli. The Congress and the BJP parties had accused the other of the crime.
The Karnataka elections saw the alliance of the Congress and the JD(S), but this will not be extended in RR Nagar. The Congress had fielded candidate Munirathna while the BJP has fielded Muniraju Gowda, secretary of the State unit and the JD(S) G.H. Ramachandra, a former councillor who left the BJP only in April.
There are 11 other candidates from various parties or as Independents.
