Govinda is condemned by Singer Zubeen Garg on alleged animal sacrifice

Actor Govinda’s visit to the much revered holy shrine of Maa Kamakhya in Guwahati has initiated a new controversy. Taking a pot shot at the Bollywood actor, Singer Zubeen Garg has made an allegation that the actor sacrificed a buffalo at the temple. Zubeen exhorted that it would be wise to offer oneself as living sacrifice rather than killing animals in the name of religion, quipping at Govinda’s visit to Kamakhya.

During a performance near the Kamakhya Temple precincts, Zubeen Garg said that he had heard that Govinda had sacrificed a buffalo at that Shakthi Peeth and that he should have sacrificed himself. He added that Maa Kamakhya or any other God would never wish for animal sacrifice. But the temple authorities refuted Zubeen Garg’s rants based on hearsay things by saying that the Actor had been an ardent devotee of Maa Kamakhya and that he regularly visited the temple but never made any animal sacrifice.

On May 27, Govinda had been in Guwahati to attend the ‘Prag Cine Awards North East 2018’ event held at the GMCH auditorium. Interestingly on this function, Govinda was the one who honoured Zubeen for winning the best popular actor (male) award for the Assamese movies Priyar Priyo and Mission China. The best popular film award was also won by Zubeen’s film Mission China.

Zubeen Garg continued his views on stopping animal sacrifice and said later that he had purchased a buffalo for his next movie and that he would cry and laugh with him and could never imagine to sacrifice him. He also said that he had kept ducks as pets, and from that very instance, he stopped taking duck meat. Zubeen felt comforted that he had not kept chickens then, for then he would not have been able to eat anything.
Amidst the cheering of his fans, Zubin performed at a stage function organized by the Friends Club, a city-based organization at the Nilachil Hills. Zubeen made an announcement there about he singing the Bollywood hit “Ya Ali” at a Hindu Temple and added that music has no religion.
