Being an airhostess may not be as fun as it looks to be. A recent revelation by an air hostess who was harassed by her pilot for a long time is shocking , to say the least. Even more shocking is the fact that no action has been taken on the issue yet. She recently sent a letter to civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu and Women and Child development minister Maneka Gandhi, claiming that no action yet has been taken against Capt Darryl Pais who has allegedly harassed the victim.

The air-hostess said that Pais used to abuse women in office, force them to accompany him for drinking sessions and much more. He used to tell others that the promotion of these employees depended on what these women would do for him. She called her own experience as “a vintage classic case of harassment and intimidation”. She said she was propositioned by him on many occasions and for not falling a victim to his actions was penalised by being denied “decent earning flights”.
The complainant said she is shocked to see the AirIndia management is still covering up for the senior executive and had also made the errant internal complaints committee(ICC) chairperson, who allegedly told her the Pais flirts with her too. The victim said that the committee ignored the specific demand by the complainant and another women to cross examine pais, as per the law.
“After months of follow-up, we suddenly got a mail from ICC chairperson, saying, ‘ICC has concluded its enquiry, if you have any witnesses from serving Air India employees only, bring them in 24 hours or we close the case’,” she said.
