Chengannur election result was quite a shocker for Congress Party. Even before declaring the result, the candidate D VijayaKumar had openly said that there were issues with the campaigning of Congress party and the results for sure reflected that. Now Congress veteran K Muraleedharan has come up with his criticism against the party and then indirectly taking a dig at Ramesh Chennithala, the leader of Opposition.

He reckoned that the lose at Chengannur is a serious issue and requested for changes in the party faces. “Those who act against the party are protected by the leadership’s of different groups. Despite the fact that the current government is terrible in it’s administration, We couldn’t convert the feeling against government as votes. If party doesn’t undergo some change of roles and personnels, Chengannur is bound to repeat in coming elections”, the son of former Minister K Karunakaran said.
Muraleedharan added that never before has he gone behind in a booth that he had voted, hinting at Congress coming only second best at Ramesh Chennithala’s booth.
CPI(M) had an emphatic victory in the Chengannur by-poll with Saji Cheriyan leading by a majority of 20956 votes over D Vijayakumar. Total votes polled for Cherian was 67303.
