Muslim women celebrate Eid by applying henna or Mehandi on their hands and/or feet. Applying henna or Mehandi is considered by Muslim women to be very suspicious and hence they apply it during religious festivals like Eid ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha and during weddings.
It is believed that Muslim prophet Muhammad, had himself also applied henna or mehndi on his own hair.
It has a subtle colour and a beautiful texture. Most importantly, very simple Indian mehndi designs are easy to create. They don’t take much time and unlike other types of tattooing and skin colouring, these simple Mehandi designs aren’t permanent in nature.
Mehendi is also called as Mylanchi. The traditional mehndi designs are transformed to be more decorative and are intricate with time. Due to the growing popularity of Mehendi, many artists took over this profession.
