The Congress on Sunday accuses that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forged voter entries in electoral rolls in Madhya Pradesh. The party said that there are 60 lakh fake voters in Madhya Pradesh’s electoral list published on January 1, 2018. Madhya Pradesh State Congress Committee President Kamal Nath questions behind the magic of escalation of the number of voters by 40 percent at a time when population growth in the state was only 24 percent in the last 10 years.
Kamal Nath said they have given evidence to the elections commission pointing out the irregularities in the voter list submitted on January 1, 2018. He termed the list to be bogus and fraudulent and called out for the returning officer responsible for the list to be aptly penalised.“We provided the evidence to the Election Commission that there are 60 lakh fake voters registered in the voting list.”

He reminded EC that it’s their job to ensure that electoral rolls be free from errors of such magnitude. The fake list was created deliberately and many voters’ names were forged many times across constituencies and polling stations, alleged Kamalnath.
Congress alleged that the voters’ list contains illegal repeated forged entries across multiple polling booths. A strict action was preferred against the returning officer who published the list and called for a fresh list to be prepared ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia blamed the BJP-led government behind the ‘fraudulent list’. “We examined 101 constituencies in MP where 24,65,000 fake voters were found. In 91 other constituencies, 27 lakh voters who had the same names, photos and addresses on multiple polling stations,” said Scindia at a press conference.
