The mango season is running now and if you wanna have it while you are travelling in a train, Know that Indian Railway wants you to do the same. Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation ( IRCTC) has collaborated with a start-up called Trapigo to get e-catering orders delivered at passengers berth and has also tied up with a self help group called Shree Mahalakshmi Swayam Sahayata Bachat Ghat to sell organic Alphonso mangoes in trains.

You won’t need to shed a lot of money to buy these as you can get a dozen at just Rs 470 and the word is that the mangoes delivered will be organic. IRCTC has been associating with leading players in catering field to diversify the culinary options available to passengers for quite sometime.
“In IRCTC’s mission to ensure reliable delivery of hot and fresh food from the choicest restaurants in the city, TRAPIGO with its own fleet of delivery boys in co-branded uniforms will guarantee the execution. Orders placed on IRCTC’s e-Catering website ecatering.irctc.co.in or ‘Food-on-track’ app will be delivered by TRAPIGO in neat packaging with co-branded tapes, stickers etc at a nominal fee of Rs. 15/-,” said Railways in a statement.
The project was started by implementing it on pilot basis in Nagpur from yesterday, and then will be expanded to other cities in the North Central belt like NewDelhi, Itarsi, Jhansi, Bhopal etc.
Trapigo is a start upby IIT- IIM and NIFT graduates. It is a B2B logistics service provider on food products. Shree Mahalakshmi Swayam Sahayta Bachat Ghat is an SHG empanelled with IRCTC under the e-catering project.
