P J Kurien himself have been in the news for the wrong reasons recently, as the young brigades of Congress party vehemently opposed Kurien getting another term in Rajya Sabha. But then the seasoned politician knows how to handle the situation and has come up with a suggestion of six names to be considered for the position, along with a stern warning against Kerala Congress (M).

In the official letter pad of Rajyasabha Deputy Chairman, Kurien has sent a letter to Rahul Gandhi requesting him not to consider a candidate from K M Mani’s group even if Kurien himself is not considered. The six names suggested by Kurien includes Rajmohan Unnithan, P.C Chacko, M.M Hassan, V.M Sudheeran , Shanimol Usman and P C Vishnunath.
He added that he is happy about Kerala Congress (M) coming back to Congress party, but said the return shouldn’t come at the cost of Congress party having to surrender its broader interests. The letter also says that there is no guarantee regarding Mani’s party continuing in Congress even if they are offered a seat.
He said the same forces who pushed the young leaders to speak against him is also trying to bag a seat for Kerala Congress(M).
