His wife Indira Ramachandran has been trying hard for his release since his incarceration. The efforts by the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had not yielded any results.
M.A.Ramachandran’s life abroad started as a bank employee in Kuwait, from where through the Jewellery brand “Atlas” and its success he came to be called as Atlas Ramachandran. The first branch of Atlas Jewellers was started in Kuwait. Collecting funds from his friends, well-wishers, and others, along with his sheer hard work, he was able to extend the functioning of Atlas Jewellery to the UAE by 1980s. Atlas Jewellery had 48 showrooms in Gulf alone and also some branches in India too.
Considered as a good businessman with ethics, Ramachandran’s Atlas Jewellery still remains a trustable name with no controversies or allegations against the branch so far. This goodwill they have earned at a time when many major Jewellery brands have been accused of unethical practices in trade and also starting of investment schemes which looted the common man, sometimes leading them to self-immolation before the Jewellery’s office.
Atlas Ramachandran’s bad times started with his decision to set foot on the Real Estate business accepting the invitation of his friend abroad. His close ones allege that he has been lured to fall into a trap aimed at the looting of his hard earned wealth.
At first Atlas Ramachandran had been filed under one case, that was later followed by 25 other cases. The family has been of the hope that all the liabilities will be over once he gets out of the jail.
