Investigations are going in progress. Police also found electric cooking oils and spices in the doctor’s possession. Since inmates are not allowed to cook in their cells, this might have been smuggled in too.
What is to be noted is that how criminals logged in jail paid the doctor. Preliminary investigation shows that money recovered from the doctor could be takings of extortion rackets run by convicts.
Currently, the investigation is jointly run by state police department and prison authorities. The authorities of various prisons across the country are struggling to stem the smuggling of contraband, especially mobile phones and narcotics, into their premises.
