Women’s Asia Cup T20: India loss two early wickets chasing Pakistan’s low target

Indian Women cricket team lost two early wickets while chasing back a low score target against arch-rivals Pakistan in Women’s Asia Cup T20 at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur.

India lost the wickets of Mithali Raj and Deepthi Sharma. Both were returned back to pavilion without making any changes in the scoreboard. As per the reports, at the end of 11 overs, India were at 40/2. India Women still need 33 runs in 54 balls. Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur are at the crease.

Pakistan decided to bat first after winning the toss. But the decision proved too costly as Indian bowlers made the best of their abilities to wrap the opposition in the shackles. Ekta Bisht took 3 wickets in the match and gave just 14 runs in her 4 overs, as Pakistan Women managed to reach 72/7 in 20 overs, setting India up for an easy 73-run chase.

With six points apiece, India and Pakistan occupy the top two spots in the table, with a superior net run rate separating the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side from the Pakistanis. Aiming their seventh straight title, India will hope they can continue their all-round form and beat Pakistan before reaching the finals.

India women’s team is rolling with their high confidence and performance in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 trophy. Women in blue have won all their matches, barring the shocking defeat against Bangladesh.
