Man dies in hospital after treatment from fake doctor
A 45-year-old man died after allegedly being treated by a fake doctor , who gave him wrong medication and injections.
Utpal Saikia was admitted to SHL Hospital in Munirka Delhi for the treatment of fever and vomiting, and kept under the medical care of Ram Chander Yadav. Saikia died shortly after being admitted to the hospital.
The SHL Hospital was not registered with the Delhi government and has now been shut down. Yadav, who was practising on the basis of his MBBS degree from Goa Medical College – which is registered with Goa Medical Council – admitted to Mail Today that his degrees are fake.
“I have not done MBBS. I got fake medical degrees through a friend and started practising at SHL Hospital which has now been shut down. I am sitting at home for the past five months,” he said.
Yadav was not registered with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC). A DMC report said the patient was treated by an unqualified person in an unregistered hospital and did not receive proper treatment, which led to his death. His post mortem report said the death was due to “shock and haemorrhage due to bleeding varices in a known case of chronic liver disease.”

Dr Girish Tyagi, secretary cum registrar of DMC, told Mail Today: “We received a complaint in November last year from a lady doctor alleging a false treatment to his brother at SHL Hospital. During investigation it was found that Ram Chander Yadav is not registered with DMC. Also, the SHL hospital is not registered with Delhi government,” said Tyagi.”
“Since Yadav is not a doctor and he recklessly administered treatment which was beyond his knowledge and skill, he has been booked for murder. He has also been charged for cheating and forgery under the provisions of Indian Penal Code in addition to Section 27 of the Delhi Medical Council Act, 1997,” said Dr Tyagi.
DMC has now written to Directorate General of Health Services for a stringent action against SHL Hospital for employing an unqualified person and allowing him to treat patients.
