Amit Shah says Congress-free India means getting rid of ‘Congress Culture’

Asserting the key role of opposition in a democracy, Amit Shah said that his party’s slogan of “Congress-free India” meant freeing India from that party’s culture.

BJP President said that he didn’t make any personal attacks on Rahul Gandhi and that he only replied to the opposition leader’s questions.

Amit Shah said that “Congreemukt Bharat” meant getting rid of the ‘Congress culture’, stressing the importance of opposition in a democracy.”It is a different thing that the Congress has been shrinking in the country”, Shah said.

The BJP President was addressing a press conference at Ambikapur town in Chattisgarh’s Surguja district before leaving for New Delhi after his two-day visit to the city.

To the query about why he attacked Rahul Gandhi constantly in his speeches, he said that he was merely responding to the questions asked by Rahul and that there was nothing personal in it.

Amit Shah passed the ball to Rahul’s court saying that it was the responsibility of Rahul Gandhi to keep the Congress alive and not his, replying to a question whether the BJP wanted to wipe out opposition from this country.

Amit Shah opined that BJP had done good work and therefore it was getting the support of the people. “If we continue doing good work, people will continue to support us,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi was asked by Mr.Shah to give an account of the four-generation rule of his family as it was in power for 55 years.

When Amit Shah was asked about the middle class distancing themselves from the Modi government, he said that center had been working keeping in mind benefits of all sections of society and that the middle-class distancing was just another propaganda against his party. Shah noted that the party had won in 14 states with the support of middle classes.

Amit Shah highlighted the achievements and the benefits brought down by the government schemes to the common people in the 4 years of NDA rule. Emphasising on the elimination of the maximum number of terrorists in Kashmir, he said that under this regime the international borders were protected. Shah said that the government had a better Kashmir Policy and had been keeping an eye on the situations in the valley.

Amit Shah made a comparison of former PM Manmohan Singh’s and PM Narendra Modi’s foreign tours and said that nobody knew about Manmohan’s tours but Modi was welcomed by people abroad.

Chattisgarh saw a rise from the ‘BIMARU’ state status, which had been imprinted on it thanks to the Congress rule there, to a rapidly developing state since BJP came to power in 2003, said the BJP President.

Chhattisgarh has now become a power surplus state, Naxalism has been controlled, the road network is being laid, agriculture production increased, and transport and communication services expanded in remote areas, he mentioned.

Chattisgarh’s upcoming capital ‘Naya Raipur’ was being built and many more developmental works had been done by the Raman Singh government, said Amit Shah while claiming that several state governments were taking lessons from Chattisgarh.
Confident of a fourth time win in Chattisgarh after witnessing a huge response in his programme in Ambikapur yesterday, Shah was sure about grabbing 65 out of the 90 seats there.

After his arrival in Ambikapur on Sunday, he held a road show in the town followed by addressing a public meeting convened as a part of Raman Singh’s ‘Vikas Yatra’ campaign. The campaign has been organized to accentuate achievements of the 15-year rule of Raman Singh’s government, ahead of polls in the state.
