Modi Govt invites applications for joint secretaries in different ministries
The Central government has advertised and invites applications from “talented and motivated Indian nationals willing to contribute towards nation building” to become bureaucrats at the Joint Secretary (JS) rank, a mid-ranking position usually filled by officers selected through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams.
The ministry of personnel said it was looking for 10 outstanding individuals with expertise in the areas of financial services, revenue, economic affairs, agriculture, cooperation and farmer welfare, road transport and highways, shipping, environment, forest and climate change, new and renewable energy, civil aviation and commerce.

As per the criteria fixed by the government, the applicant must be of 40 years of age as on July 1 and a graduate from a recognized university or institute. Higher qualifications would be an added advantage. They will be appointed for three years and the government can also extend the contract to up to five years. To ensure that highly professional persons apply for the job, the selected candidates will be offered a salary of Rs 1.44 lakh to Rs 2.18 lakh per month and would also get allowances and facilities as applicable to the equivalent level in the Central government.
