A motorcycle of a police constable was stolen, from outside the Rabale Police Station. According to a report, police constable Vaibhav Kurade was swindled out of his bike during the time he was on duty. He was on the night shift and found his vehicle missing when he returned in the early hours at the end of his shift. “He came to work on a bike, which he parked next to the police station. When he returned in the early hours of June 7, he couldn’t find it,” a police officer told the paper.
An FIR has been lodged but no arrests have yet been made in the case, sources said. The theft took place when the constable had gone on duty and upon returning he could not find the vehicle and the CCTV cameras at the police station also didn’t get any positive results.
The incident left the department red-faced and an investigation is underway. It is said that men in khaki uniform are often feared by criminals. However, a report of theft has baffled police department in Mumbai. In a rarer than rare incident, a motorcycle belonging to a police constable was stolen, that too from outside the Rabale Police Station. The incident left the department red-faced and an investigation is underway.

What’s more ironical is the fact that there were CCTVs installed in and around the police station but no footage of the crime could be attained as the angle at which the bike was parked left a blind spot for the cameras. “We are investigating. There are CCTVs on the premises. But the bike could not be seen in any of the footages. We are looking at other CCTV footage from around the area. As soon as we identify the accused, we will make the arrest,” the police officer told.
