If you have enough money to buy and ride in a BMW why would you want to steal a TV worth 14k?
Two men who came in a BMW car and checked into a hotel allegedly decamped with a 32-inch LED TV in east Bengaluru on Friday.
According to Jeevanbima Nagar police, the two men came in a BMW car bearing Telangana registration number to Astra Hotel and Suites in Geetanjali Layout, near New Thippasandra, around 10 AM on June 10 and checked into Room No. 302C after producing an Aadhaar card as identity proof.
They stayed in the hotel for two days and fled in the wee hours of Friday without checking out.
The hotel staff noticed the duo’s absence and called the room around 11 AM the same day. When they did not get a reply, the staff opened the room using a spare key and found that the 32-inch Iconic television was missing. The car too was not found in the hotel’s parking lot.
Police said the staff checked the CCTV footage in the hotel and found the duo taking the TV set from the room 30 minutes past Thursday midnight. The two went to the parking lot, kept the TV inside their BMW car and sped away.
Melville K, a property manager of Astra Hotel and Suites, filed a complaint against the duo on Friday and provided the CCTV footage, the ID proof they had given during room booking and the registration number of the suspects’ car.
“The car bore the registration number TS 11 EK O555. They had given an Aadhaar card showing a Telangana address. We have started an investigation to trace the accused. We suspect they provided a fake ID proof and used a fake vehicle registration. We have sought help from Telangana RTOs to reach the vehicle owner and trace the accused,” a police officer said.
Police said it is surprising why someone would come in a BMW car to steal a TV worth around Rs 14,000. “We will come to know about the facts once we nab them,” a police officer added.
