A terrible mishap happened in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district when Tamil Nadu State Transport bus fell into a 500 feet deep gorge killing 6 and injuring 28 people. The accident supposedly happened when the driver of the bus was trying to avoid a pit in the ghat road in Mandada.
6 people including 2 women were killed on the spot and the Police added that 28 people were injured among them some seriously injured.
Co-ordinated efforts were made by personnel of the Fire and Rescue Force, Police and State Disaster Management Agency in the rescue operations.19 people had been taken to Coimbatore government hospital while others were admitted to the government hospital near there.
The destination point of the bus was Coonoor.
It has been heavily raining in several parts of the Nilgiris district for the past few days.
