Red alert in 6 districts in Kerala:CM’s order to take emergency steps.

On the wake of heavy raining and the subsequent destructions including landslides being reported from different districts of the state, Red Alert has been declared by the state government in certain districts. The Red Alert is mainly declared in Northern districts where the heavy rain wrecked havoc. Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasargod, Palakkad have been stated as districts under red alert. There have been landslides, flood in different parts of Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and Malappuram districts.

There are chances for heavy raining till June 18 and it is expected that the rain will be in all its ferocity. Orange Alert has been declared in Kottayam, Alappuzha, Idukki districts.

Ther continuous nature of the rain may aggravate flood, landslips and landslides in the state. In the last 24 hours, Kozhikode and Malappuram districts witnessed extraordinary rain. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has given orders to Chief Secretary and Collectors to take emergency steps to deal with monsoon calamities. In the NH, near the twin tunnel road in Kuthiran, due to landslip, the road has been blocked. Control rooms which will be active 24/7 have been opened in different districts.
