Back from the US,Goa CM Manohar Parrikar resumes office

Getting back after undergoing a treatment in the US for pancreatic ailments, Goa CM Manohar Parrikar first sought the blessings of his family deity Devki Krishna and resumed his work soon after. Parrikar has been in the US for 3 months, reaching back from where he has immediately joined his work, back as the ever-active CM of Goa.

A pious start for his back to action was given by him through visiting Devki Krishna temple at Khandola Village in North Goa, 15kms away from Panaji, Said CMO.

Goa Mahila Congress and other organizations have been calling for a hasty arrival of Manohar Parrikar as in his absence they alleged that crimes against women have been on the rise.

The CM after praying at his family deity’s temple, also visited Mahalaxmi temple in Panaji, after which he immediately drove to Porvorim, situated on the outskirts of Panaji where lies the State Secretariat. Parrikar chaired a meeting of senior bureaucrats and police officers to take stock of the law and order situation in Goa.

After the meeting which had been attended by senior officials including State Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma and Director General of Police(DGP) Muktesh Chandar, the CM released a video in which he assured the people of Goa that he would be “always be there for the welfare and development” of the state and would continue to serve them. Parrikar also thanked the people of Goa for their prayers for his speedy recovery.

Parrikar had left to the US on March 7, after constituting a Cabinet Advisory Committee to guide the State Administration on governance and other issues in his absence. After his 3 months of treatment in the US, 62-year-old Manohar Parikkar came back on Thursday evening.
